Tangible Story Telling

Duration: 1 week
Done at: IIT Guwahati
Tasks done: Story Boarding, Puppet Making, Design from Waste

Project Description:
This project was done as a part of a story telling workshop Xaadu Kowa conducted by Raja Mohanty, IDC (IIT Bombay) and Puppeteer Chobin Rajakhowa. The idea behind this was mastering the art of Story telling. Story telling using physical models like puppets is fascinating and interesting because it requires proper co-ordination between the hands and the motions have to be controlled offstage.

Done under professional puppeteer, we were also involved in making puppets from waste materials like old socks, torn clothes etc. This way we were able make maximum benefit form unused old items. This was to incorporate the philosophy of designing from re-usability, and recycling waste materials.

The story was also composed by we students ourselves and it was a story which involved the gods and the demons. It was rooted in Indian Mythology. The idea behind this story was to make the children who are the most fascinated by stories, interested in this art of physical story telling.
