About Application:

HiFIRE: Hitachi Feature and Interoperability Reports. The application provides product feature and interoperability reporting capabilities used by the Sales team in responding to customer requests for checking the compatibility of HDS storage solution products with the external ones. This is also used to check the feasibility of the requests that have been made by clients all over the world. This application lets the users select the configuration and place requests. These requests are then validated and systems designed after they have been approved by the technical teams.

Design Process and Solution:
A web-based application designed on the J2EE platform, takes data from a huge data-base and generates reports in tables. The work involved doing review of the existing old application. UI Flow diagrams were created for the new screens and the Wireframes created for the same. I was also involved in the Information architecture of the application, creating wireframes and visual designs for the screens.

This was followed by a creation of a documentation of the User Interface guidelines.
The client’s style guide was used to design the application.

The designed screens were then subjected to a Usability evaluation with other experts who performed a Heuristic Evaluation. Based on this feedback the screens were redesigned and presented to the client.
